This sweet little girl has been through more in her little sixth month of life than I have ever been through. That is a hard pill to swallow as a Momma. She is starting to have an amazing personality that shines through this all. Her little life still brings me to tears each time I sit and really think about it. She truly is a miracle!

On Monday, she has a check-up MRI. We have not heard any results so we are assuming at this point in time everything is looking great. Brinton did great on Monday with the travel, sedation, and waking back up again. I know God has amazing plans for the sweet girl. Where does the time and how to get out of the cycle of feeling "I got this", but really inside you are screaming for freedom. I recently, had a conversation with a fellow mom talking about how in this season we just have to let things go and some things just cannot happen. How do I let things go, but still make special times for my kids. How do I organize my life in a way that is meaningful in this season. Some days I feel like I need to breath and enjoy a moment of freedom. I just reminding myself that these days will go so fast and the girls will be in kindergarten before I know it. Just keep reminding myself to breath!

Above is a picture of a sweet memory that I want to remember for a long time. This was the first time the girls took a nap at their Nana and Pappy's together. Both girls just laid down and dozed off into dream land. My little valentines! Our actual day went well. We had friends over to play, which I should have grabbed a pic of all the kids. Then we had breakfast for dinner including pink eggs, pink pancakes, and bacon. Later that evening the boys came down with the stomach flu... not so pretty the second time around. The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-26619228068113327772013-02-21T14:35:00.002-11:002013-02-21T14:35:26.456-11:00Corn DipSo a friend of mine reminded me yesterday, that she wanted my corn dip recipe. That got me thinking why don't I just post it on my blog. Sorry no pics because I have not made it since Christmas due to my life being crazy.

Corn Dip Recipe
1 8oz block of cream cheese
2 cups of salsa or maybe a little or less depending on how runny your salsa is... I use Costco organic and it is pretty runny
2 cups of corn...est. again due to using homemade bagged corn
1 bag of sharp cheddar cheese

Mix together and bake at 400 degrees for about 30 mins. or until brown and bubbly. I am more of a dumper than an exact cook. Feel free to add green chilies, green pepper, or hot sauce to make it spicier. Life is running away from me at a very rapid rate! Our little Miss is making some great smiles and coos. I am needing take a deep breath and continue to keep up with the journal of our lives. A goal for this week: BLOG!

The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-33922676248146963682013-01-29T13:58:00.001-11:002013-01-29T13:58:18.942-11:00Some days... Some days I just want to have a quiet dinner with the hubs and pretend we are alone! So tonight that is what we did... the girls were sleeping away, but we heard some mysterious noises from the study where the boys always think they need to play. We just let them go because we just wanted to hang out. It was relaxing and kind of like "old"times. The boys played happily and we enjoyed five bites of uninterrupted time together. Ahhh bliss!

On another note, everyone here is just hanging out. We had a unexpected gift yesterday and we all enjoyed a little more time with daddy. One of the many blessings of my husbands workplace! Lately, I have a very limited time to do anything besides eat or take care of someone. Most days I sit down around 9 pm when everyone is finally in bed and look around my house to see everything that needs to be done. So sorry for the lack of posts lately. I promise I will get more ideas flows and more updates on the kids. But for right now life is just running away without me.

- Kelvie- 9lbs. 6 oz and 21 1/2 long
- Brinton 8lbs. 6 oz. 21 1/2 long
- Everyone is still wearing newborn and size 0-3 clothes
- Kelvie and Brinton are holding their heads up
- Kelvie is a big eater ... sometime you eat 8 oz. in a 4 hour period
- Miz B you are not quite as big of an eater as your sister
- Both of you LOVE people and always are super alert.
We Love you both more than the world and can't wait to see how you grow into what God wants you to be.

A little update on Brinton... We met with her neurologist last Thursday and she is pleased with her progress. She said Brinton is still a mystery and we just want to make sure it doesn't happen again. Dr. Hopkins does believe her blood presure did drop and that she does have a spinal cord injury. Our peditrican informed us that by the grace of God she is being healed!!! We are still thanking God for giving us our little girl and letting us keep her. He is faithful!
Life has been crazy since we have gotten home from DuPont. Obivously, my lack of posts. Keeping up with two babies and two toddlers has gotten a little crazy! I am trying to get ready for Christmas. I have now lost three weeks of prep time, but I am reminding myself to let things go.

As far as Brinton's next step we sit and wait for some more blood work and another neuro appointment on January 3rd. She is continuing to heal and look better and better, but this momma is nervous that it could all start again. Her temperature did drop a little bit on Sunday and I was scared! When she was released from the hospital there was huge improvement and her MRI showed all clear. So I just need to continue to trust God that her little life is in His hands. Brinton has a huge story to tell and will be able to share that with a lot of people.

I am continuing to pray that God would reveal to me what He wants me to learn through all of this...The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-80623471016081495822012-12-13T05:56:00.000-11:002012-12-13T05:56:48.306-11:00Our God is SOOO Much Bigger!Yesterday, was a day of God proving how much bigger he really is and how is truly loves us all the time. Brinton was scheduled for her MRI at 12:00, which was the entire reason we were admitted in the first place. I walked her down to the area and waiting for the docs to come in for sedation. We waited for a while and it was taking some time for the docs to come even the nurse was becoming a little impatient. Finally, the doc came in and informed me that her test could either be delayed or we could use another drug to sedate due to an emergency situation. This older drug was totally safe and no intabation would be use, but she might not stay asleep through all of the imaging. This would require the team to stop and to schedule another date to reimage. So I just prayed God you have this totally under control. The nurse took my number and told me she would give me a call if she woke up early. I hurried out and did some Christmas shopping. I waited and waited for a call, but no call. So I headed back to the hospital just to check in and they were still imaging. First Praise! All images were taken and no itabation! My biggest fear and God just took care of that one.

We met with her neurologist last night and he informed us that all spots on her brain are GONE! Her spinal swelling is down. We know that is only from God and I still feel like I have a lot of processing through all of my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I am feeling surrounded by God's love and graciousness on Brinton's life and our family. Thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts, concerns, and help. The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-34010627238904461752012-12-11T10:31:00.001-11:002012-12-11T10:31:40.448-11:00We PASSED!!!I know I have not updated in a couple of days.... so sorry life has taken OVER!
Monday, we finally, heard that we needed to be at DuPont by one o'clock for admission. So I packed up the other three and got Miss B all packed up to head out. Said good bye to my little loves and sent them with Nana! We drove down in some super foggy and overall, nasty weather. Needless to say if I was at home I would be in my sweatpants hanging out or taking a nap! We got all admitted to find out that no testing would be done that day. One small disappointment because this was all suppose to be set up before we came, but I knew that God had this all orchestrated for a reason!

So today we woke up and headed back to the hospital to find out that her MRI and Swallow Study were both scheduled for the same time. Again not to our delight and late afternoon at that. We were also told that her MRI if she lost her spot it could take up to a week to get it done. Again, not ideal, but Gods timing is better than ours. She got her swallow study appointment and her MRI appointment for tomorrow, which was amazing that they could get another MRI appointment so quickly.

Fast forward to this afternoon. I did not get my hopes super high and tried to remain pretty chill about the entire thing. I knew the harsh disappointment that happens after a fail. So I watched in anticipation and was super excited when I saw her swallowing correctly! I saw how God was showing his faithfulness once again on this journey with us.

So please be in prayer for tomorrow as we have an MRI scheduled for around 3pm and she will be intibated and hopefully, quickly excibated. Pray also for us as we drive back and forth from Manheim to DE at different points in time. Lastly, and most importantly please pray for Elijah, Hudson, and Kelvie who will be in the wonderful care of my in-laws until I get home. I am missing them tons! The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-69447970503111410032012-12-09T16:11:00.001-11:002012-12-09T16:11:42.359-11:00A little update

Here are my little cuties tonight... As you can see Kelvie is starting to get bigger than Brinton and they were both not into their pictures being taken tonight!

Tomorrow, we head to DuPont children's hospital for an impatient stay for Miss B. We will be having more testing and seeing if there is any change in her MRI, MRV, MRA, and swallow study. This will hopefully, give more insight to this doctor. She is going to run tests for metabolic diseases and autoimmune disorders. We have seen a bunch of improvement in her this weekend. She started moving her fingers in her left hand and she has been sucking on her right hand.

My prayer this week is for peace of mind and spirit. To not just survive, but thrive in the moment. I had a really encouraging conversation today at church with a mom who has lived through this and her child is now thriving! So thank you for all of your prayers that are felt and we are encouraged by them! The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-36487520431191911452012-12-06T01:49:00.000-11:002012-12-06T01:49:02.708-11:00Well That Didn't Go As Planned...So yesterday, was hard. That is all I have to say. I was "planning" on going in there and the doc. saying she is making so much improvement just keep us updated and see you back in a couple of months.

That is NOT what she Said.....

She proceeded to tell me there will be lasting effects.... LASTING EFFECTS. Really... I just broke down. The words I did not want to hear and scared me. Bascially, at this point we are looking at residual effect, but only God knows what that will look like. Her hands will most likely have some issues. I am praying that her brain and her swallowing will not. The doc was confident that this is either an autoimmune issue, metabolic, or something that requires more major action that what Hershey was taking towards it. We are headed back for another impatient stay when they can schedule her swallow study, MRI, MRA, and MRV all in the same day. This does require her to put to sleep and intabated again, which is super scary. The doc did inform me of a couple of courses of treatment including more steroids and another treatment that Kent and I have think about due to its adverse effects.

Prayer Requests:
- That Brinton's body would handle all testing well
- Her swallow study would be passed and she would be able to take a bottle again
- Elijah, Hudson, and Kelvie would handle yet another change! They will be staying with my in-laws, but it is still another adjustment
- For my gracious in-laws who continue to jump in and support us in every way possible with our kids

I know God is bigger than this... I just need to keep reminding myself of that every day! I had a conversation with God this am in the shower because Mom's of small kids will understand that is the only place you can think! HA I just kept asking what do you want me to learn through all of this...

I also mentioned a little girl named Sage a couple of weeks ago... she is now with Jesus in Heaven... please pray for her parents as they walk some very dark days through this Christmas season. The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-42538350222880981132012-12-01T15:35:00.002-11:002012-12-01T15:35:51.540-11:00One Thing Checked Off the List!

The boys did a great job sitting for this and they helped Daddy pick out the tree. Its beginning to look at lot like Christmas here at the Pierce house. I am learning to let things go this year. So not sure if any cards will be sent or if special cookies will be baked, but our tree is up! I even got a picture with the kids in front of it. One thing checked off the list!

The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-77320082897073400382012-11-30T14:35:00.001-11:002012-11-30T14:35:09.155-11:00more appointments...Today was a day of "well" visits.... I normally, just love going to those, but not so much today! Elijah had his three year and did AWESOME! Minus all of the needing to be entertained while I talked to the doc during our actual appointment. He even got a flu shot and did not even cry. Kelvie did well and did not even make a peep the entire visit. Then we moved onto Brinton.... we tried to move her tubes up, which would allow her feeding to go to every 4 hrs. just like Kelvies. To no surprise it did not work out. So we were sent home with another disappointment and another hurdle to cross. She was very awake and alert for the doc, which was good progress.

This upcoming Wednesday we have very important appointment at DuPont children's hospital. Our prayer is that we would be given some answers and God would show this set of doctors how to help Miss B. So please join us in praying for God to reveal and show his miraculous power through these docs. The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-90177335458083543062012-11-29T09:13:00.000-11:002012-11-29T09:13:26.264-11:00A New Day....Yesterday... well.. it was just crappy. It just stunk. Sometimes, in life we just do not understand why God lets certain things happen and I am coming to realized that I need to just grasp that and move on.

I took Brinton for a swallow study yesterday and she did not pass. This was a super hard mom moment. I just wanted to run up to that speech therapist and punch her in the face. My eyes started to well up with tears and I wanted to run. Run far far away from that room and take my baby girl home to give her a bottle. That was not a reality and it was not going to be a reality for a little while. The words that came as they were explaining this whole situation was even harder. " We don't know why she did not pass, but there must be something more wrong." I just wanted to fall to my knees and scream "Why God.. why can't we have answers on our little girls future" So I calmly composed myself and listened, asked questions, and helped with a plan of action. I then broke down in the car like any good mom would do! HA!

So what is up next for our little Miss B... Well, we are headed to DuPont to meet with a Neurologist who specialises in Transverse Myelitis, which is the diagnosis she was given at discharge. There was also a long list of crap from the so said speech therapist. I have more hope in the DuPont appointment than others. She will start therapy with a variety of therapist very soon. Of course we have been down this road before and know where to find some top notch therapists!

A friend sent me this quote today: "because of this Lords great love We are not consumed, for his compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Currently, I am relying on God's faithfulness to us and our family....but this is really hard stuff! The Trendy Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17185289834232799029noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4291873015755911388.post-34626844540758879002012-11-25T07:18:00.003-11:002012-11-25T07:18:56.429-11:00The Readjustment...So before everything with Brinton started I felt like "I got this" and we were settling into our new routine of a family of six. Now things are just restarting over again! The girls are one month, but we only have spent two weeks of that month at our own home. My in-laws were gracious enough to let us stay with them the entire time we were at the Med. Center. It was a HUGE blessing to know that we were close enough "just in case" we got a middle of the night call. The boys had a blast and loved on every day! E keeps asking when he can go back for a sleep over at Nana and Pappy's. They do love their Nana and Pappy.

So here we are readjusting to our new life as a family of six. This season also brings with it tons of excitement, decorations, and expectations. I am setting myself up with a calendar of items I would like to get accomplished each day. I am going to change it up each day to include baking to crafting and everything in between. I don't want this season of Christs birth to just pass our family by because we are just too consumed by being a blessed family. I will blog about each days adventures! Thanks again for all of your prayers through our journey with Brinton!
