Flavored Olive Oil Cheap!

I love a good flavored olive oil and it can be pretty expensive. I have found that if I add three or four cloves of garlic, a pinch of ground pepper, and about two teaspoons of salt and let it sit for a couple of days covered container it make a great flavor. Add as much or little of salt, pepper, and garlic that you would like. I usually put 4 to 5 cups of olive oil to the ratio of seasonings, but you can make it more flavored or less. This is great on toasted Italian bread and on chicken on the grill!

A Simple Journal

My frugal tips of the day is: Refinance your mortgage now! Rates are so low. We didn't even think about until someone said something to us and we are about to save a lot of money every month. Reusing dyer sheets really does work! I was a little skeptical at first, but gave it try and it totally works for two loads. My last tip is try to use cash for all entertainment. We were constantly blowing money on entertainment or going out to eat, but we put into place a rule "only if we have cash can we do it" We have become so much more in control of our finances and bills by doing this. It has also made us think about what we really want to do. Check out more frugal tips here

One small life update: K and I are finished our grad school for this semester and we are super happy!

A New Recipe

This week I tried a new recipe and it was a total hit with K. It also gave lots of leftovers, which means either freezer or more meals!

I put 6 chicken breasts in the crockpot along with two cans of tomatoes. I had the Italian ones, but you could use any. Then salt, pepper, cumin, and garlic to taste. I like things flavorful so I added a lot, but you could use less. I also added some hot sauce again optional. Cooked on low for 8 hrs. This made 6 cups of shredded meat! Great way to make all kinds of different Mexican meals. We had tacos the other night and now we are having quesadillas tonight!

Along with this meal I have been sitting down every weekend at some point and writing a list for the fridge of what we are having for dinner and what is goin on that evening. That way hub can let me know if something is wrong or he has planned something else!

How to get rid of a pesky stain

I am not a sloppy person, but one who tends to have a splash of my meal on me. I have found that I need to wear an apron whenever cooking these days. My tip of the day is to put Dawn liquid dish soap on any greasy stain. It works like a charm! Just follow normal washing instructions and the stain will come out. I have used this trick on all fabrics except fur.(sorry I don't really wear much of it). So that is my tip of the day for works for me Wednesdays.

Works for Me Wednesdays

I deiced to put one more post up here today. I am taking this off of http://www.wearethatfamily.com/.. I really need to get directions on how to put a link in with just one work. I know it should be really simple, but I just can't figure it out... so if you visit here today leave me a note and tell me how to get this done!! As you can see I am a new blogger!

So my greatest tips!
1. Let the hub talk when he is ready and don't push it! I can remind my hub that I need to hear what is going on, but let him talk on his terms.
2. The more respect you give your husband the more he feels loved!
3. When baking choc. chip cookies mix the wet ingredients for at least 3mins. and fold in the flour.. it will make all the difference!
